After making her television debut on Kaahin Kissii Roz, Shweta Tiwari starred as Prerna, the main character, on the 2001–2008 television series Kasautii Zindagi Kay. Tiwari took part in the fourth season of the reality series Bigg Boss in 2010.

In 1998, Tiwari wed actor Raja Chaudhary; on October 8, 2000, their daughter Palak was born. After nine years of marriage, she filed for divorce.Tiwari claimed that Raja’s drunkenness and aggression caused her and Raja to have a difficult relationship.
